خلاصه 

برنامه مایکل این است که زندگی اش را در سایه ی دوسان صمیمی اش، بکی و جیمز سپری کند. همچنین برادرش، کانر نیز از خانه به بیرون پرت شده و مایکل می داند که تنها راهی که به سرنوشت او دچار نشود، زندگی بی سرو صدا است. 

برای گذراندن زمان، او به جایی به نام اکو می رود تا فشار درس را، اذیت های پدرش را و خطر بیماری جدیدی را با کمک موسیقی فراموش کند تا وفتی که با پسری به نام گبریل آشنا می شود...

این کتاب به دلیل شباهتش به perks of being a wallflower معروف شده ولی متفاوته. متن کتاب خیلییی قشنگ بود. یعنی نویسنده طوری کامل و درست تاربخ رو در سال 1834 اینا و حالی که جوانان اون دوره داشتن رو توصیف کرده بود و جدا از اون، طوری نوشته پر از احساس بود که چند جا باعث گریه می شد و به همون اندازه ای که خود کتاب زیبا بود، پایانش بی معنی بود.
